Person vs. Person
This is a conflict in this novel because the main protagonists, Carter and Sadie, must protect the world from Set, the evil god of chaos and destruction. He was building a pyramid that would hold Julius Kane. Trapped like a monkey in his cage. That pyramid was called the Red Pyramid. On the day before Set's birthday Carter and Sadie found the Red Pyramid almost complete. Throughout the book, the person vs. person conflict occurred but this is the most climactic and important part was the war raging between the demons and Set, and the magicians and Carter and Sadie. In the end, the conflict was resolved when Sadie said Set's real name and gains control over him.
Protagonist Motivation
The protagonists are usually the characters that have to work against the opposing force. They are considered as the "good guys." This book has many protagonists, but the two main protagonists are Carter and Sadie. They tell the entire book to the readers. They are considered heroes and legends in the Egyption world. They have to saves their father. He has been locked in a coffin. Set, the god of storms, and chaos and the god that locked him in there, is trying to take over the whole world. And they want to stop it.
Antagonist Motivation
In novels, the antagonist is the "Bad guy." Usually, the antagonist's plan fails and the protagonist prevails. The antagonist in this story is Set. Julius Kane tried to release Osiris but accedently relaased Set along with all the other evil gods. Set then locked Julius in a coffin. Then he attempted to capture both of his kids but failed. He tried to send monsters to attack them but they killed them all. He eventually gave up and stopped bothering them for a while. Then, he built a pyramid to hold Julius Kane. This was his whole plan. The kids found about this and had a battle with him. He was winning until Sadie said his secret name, evil day.
S.W.B.S. Summery
In the book, The Red Pyramid, the main protagonists, Carter and Sadie, wanted to see their father but, couldn't because he was being held hostage by Set who was trying to take over the world and lock Julius, Carter and Sadie's dad in a pyramid. They find out about this plot to kill their father and travel to where they think the pyramid is located. They end up guessing right and have war. Carter, Sadie, and the rest of the good magicians win the war, so release Julius and save the world from destruction.
Climax
The climax of a story is the most intense part. In this case, the climax would have to be when they are battling for the pyramid. Carter and Sadie find out about this plot to kill their father so they go to the pyramid where he is said to be executed. Set sees them and they end up having a war. He sends all his troops out and but the magicians prevail and destroy them and Set. The only way they could destroy Set is by saying his secret name, evil day. Sadie finds out about this through one of Set's guards and whispers it in Set's ear, therefor taking control of him. She then tells him to destroy himself, and he obeys her. There are many intriguing parts to this war, but my favorite part is when Sadie uses her magic and transforms the two of them into clouds. It is my favorite part because of the detail that Rick uses to describe the journey is outstanding. it's like one second they're on the ground and then the next, Poof, they are floating in the sky.
Resolution
The resolution in a story is what ends up happening. In The Red Pyramid, the resolution happens after they destroy Set. Carter, Sadie, and the rest of the magicians hastfully return to the Brooklyn House and rebuild the place with magic. After they rebuild it, it becomes the House of Life. Amos, the owner of the house, then leaves for the First Nome to be healed from being possessed by Set. Carter and Sadie are paid a visit by Osiris, who was bonded with their father. They even see the ghost of their mother who was accompaning Julius. The god of the dead gives them his djed amulet to attract other Egyptian kids. Carter and Sadie store the amulets in Carter's Duat locker and put the djed amulet with it. Once the kids began to come, they would teach them special magic son they can form a wizard army to protect from evil. Ten their ghost-mother gives the a hug goodbye and vanishes.
